TIPS FOR GREAT LOOKING FEET FOR SPRING

Now that spring has emerged from a tumultuous winter. We can finally take off our coats and hats! Normally, our beauty regimen does not include taking care of our feet. However, this is important because a lack of foot care can result in calluses and other foot problems which can be painful and make it difficult to enjoy life to the fullest. I am suggesting a few simple tips that will not only make your feet look good but feel good as well.

TIP #1: Use a pumice stone to avoid calluses on the toes, balls, and heels of your feet. After a shower or bath, take a few drops of shower gel or liquid soap to the pumice stone and gently scrub your feet. Then, rinse off and pat dry.

I recommend a pumice stone called the "foot scrubber". It has a rough texture that gently scrubs away dry skin and a smooth washboard texture on the other side to help polish the skin. It is made of terra-cotta, a material that never wears out so you can keep it forever!

Here is a picture of the pumice stone I recommend.

What Every Woman Should Have in Their Winter Shoe Collection

Many shoe aficionados throughout the world have an extensive array of shoes in their closets. Even for those individuals that have not caught the "shoe bug", there are still specific types of shoes that every woman should have in their collection at any given time. They can be classified as the flat, pump and boot.

The flat has surely come a long way and can be as stylish and flashy as its higher heeled counterparts. The flat comes with several types of ornamentation such as bows, brass or metal buckles, etc. Flats can be worn with a more conservative or casual style depending on your purpose. They can be worn with dress pants, skirts, jeans and even tights would be complemented by a pair of flats. Currently, there are many different styles of flats such as ballet, mary jane, oxford, moccasin and loafer.

The pump is another type of shoe that I recommend every woman should have in their collection. This shoe is considered more classic in look and has evolved throughout the years, but it still retains its characteristic look and feel. The characteristic pump has a heel with a low cut front and no fastening. It can be considered conservative or sexy depending on the style.

Pumps are generally worn as a more sophisticated, dressy style although they can be worn casually with a pair of jeans.

There are many types of pumps available right now such as the classic pump, mary jane, peep-toe, platform, and slingback pumps.

I highly recommend that every woman should have at least one pair of boots in their closet or some version thereof. Boots are primarily worn during the colder months, and they are the most versatile of the two shoes mentioned above. They can be worn with a pair of jeans, short or long skirt and dressy pants. They can be functional as for work or weather related, for casual or play or for a more sophisticated or dressy look.

All boots fall in either of 4 categories: thigh-high boots, knee-length boots, mid-calf length boots, and ankle boots. Thigh-high boots are generally worn with short skirts and shorts. They are the least worn among women today. I'm sure you know why! Knee-length boots are considered the most versatile and can be worn with skirts, tights, some pants and jeans. The mid-calf length boot is the most commonly worn by women and can be worn with dresses, pants and long skirts. Ankle boots are the shortest in length and can be worn with pants, long skirts and tights.

Tell me what absolute "must haves" do you keep in your closet?

Don’t Forget About the “Booties” this Season

The booties are back. They are more versatile than ever this season and can be found in many different styles and colors. Here are some of the styles that are most prominent this season.

Peep-toe Bootie - This style of bootie has become somewhat popular this season. It is characterized by an opening at the front of the boot. This style is still elegant yet has a western feel that can be worn with semi dressy attire or jeans for a more casual look.

Multi-textured Bootie - The combination of different materials being used on shoes is evident this season. This style has a combination of leather and fabric for a fantastic look. It has a very feminine yet preppy feel to it. It can be worn with suits and for casual wear.

Fold-over snap Bootie - This style of bootie is one of the traditional styles we have seen over the years. It has a folded down appearance that resembles the cuff of a shirt. It can be worn with suits and can also be dressed down for a more casual feel.
